Scully is Not The First Game at Home Dodgers: Legendary Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully didn’t call yesterday’s home opener becauseof a cold. The team said Scully was suffering from a severe cold, and missed the game under doctor’s orders. Scully, 84, announced last month that he would reduce his regular-season travel, visitingonly Phoenix and cities within California. Scully missed a Dodgers home opener only one other timeduring his 63 years announcing for the team, in 1977, when he was called the first round of theMasters golf tournament for network television.
