Petrino Ego of its Final Fall

My colleague Jason Whitlock would like to say Pussy Galore caught another victim Tuesday when Bobby Petrino was the head coach fired Arkansas football after trying to hide the relationship with the employee for 25 years.

I would like to add to this list, right there with Mrs. abundance, another key factor that is often delayed in the back big-time athletics and great people, in times of big money, because the time from them: unbridled pride.

Petrino on all accounts a great football coach. For four years in Arkansas, he led the Razorbacks to a peak of 34 to 17, including a 11.2 mark last season where they finished as the number 5 team in the country. Petrino and his program were quickly on the future is very pink.

Then, in the southeast of Fayetteville on April 1, a motorcycle carrying a coach, a young woman and her gigantic ego crashed.

It sure seems to be sure, Ms. Petrino abundance, husband and father of four children, mounted on a bicycle with Dorrell, a former volleyball player and current employees of Arkansas Arkansas Football. But it was pride that led to the subsequent cover-up when the bike fell and carefully constructed world of Petrino began to crumble.

This is a man who thought he could get away with a helluva lot. He Dorrell, he later admitted, was someone with whom he had inappropriate relationships.

But it is a sport where men cheat rampant. Cheating does not get it dismissed. Repeatedly lied to his manager - and bile and contempt need to do - do.

Petrino did not study history closely enough. It is always a cover-up that gets you, not treason or a crime. It is the ego of man, who said: "I am the above consequences," which unearths so much that you can not hide from them.

After the collapse of Trooper Petrino tried to call another state. He hid the fact that he was driving Dorrell is not only a wife, but his boss and his school, and that a lie is formed, it became a matter of time before he would not only fall around him, but will bring more things are best left in the dark. Petrino proved Dorrell also hired to work, without disclosing his relationship with her, and he gave $ 20,000 in cash. Oops.

The guy who lied to and was rewarded - the guy whose ego is said that he could get away with anything - he thought he could get away with it. It turns out that he could not. What a blow it was to behave that way, until then, and finally called him.

"He made a conscious decision to speak and to mislead the public on Tuesday," Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said Tuesday night, saying that he was dismissed because Petrino. "At the same time, it affects the reputation of the University of Arkansas and our football program."

Long was at the press conference was a pause as he fought tears. He looked no wife despises - shocked by the betrayal, rage, he was forced to this decision and eventually end the relationship he had initiated.

"The life of people affected," said Long. "Coaches, players, staff. Student-athletes. This is something that we sometimes miss."

Someone asked a different question, and even sounded like a long-time partner betrayed.

"I wish to hire him?" He asked. "It's a complicated question. If he was not involved in inappropriate behavior, I do not regret hiring him."

I felt bad for long, and Arkansas fans, but the fact is that if you hire a self-centered with a history of bad behavior is that you'll probably get exactly the same way, if you marry a cheater you are likely to wake up one day and find their marriage in disarray.

Petrino just looked at another athletic director in the eye and in a straight line lying in the fact that he spoke with another school. Petrino was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL happened to Arkansas after the end of the half of the season with a note. He was a man guided by his own sense of right and whims of their needs, rather than loyalty and sense of responsibility.

Pussy galore to put on this bike with Dorrell. The ego has made him think that he can get away with just a joy ride turned into a painful accident.

This is the bane of arrogance fueled vision of the world in the sport. In college football, college coaches often work in small towns known to add a feeling that they are the most important people in the world - guys like Jim Tressel, who considered himself above the rules of the State of Ohio.

The list of those sports in which the ego is often hampered by their God-given talent is long and varied: Ozzie Guillen, Sean Payton, Dwight Howard, Terrell Owens, and the list goes on. These people need the confidence to be great, but no one - including myself - do not benefit by protecting them from reality.

Arrogance is thriving in the sport, and he ran hard and the truth is that Petrino ultimately contributed to the displacement of jobs. Inappropriate relationship, lie, to hire him as he left his last previous work, and how he conducted himself with one of Arkansas - every step of arrogance was more than talent. It was worth it.

Petrino was not fired because he had inappropriate relations with a young woman. He was fired because he was not understanding how it is in fact from what is really important.
